| Relativity Media Young computer whiz Adam Cassidy (Liam Hemsworth, right) confronts tech CEO Nick Wyatt (Gary Oldman, left) and his assistant Judith (Embeth Davidtz), in a scene from the thriller "Paranoia."
If you can make the mental leap to believe a walking mannequin like Liam Hemsworth can be a computer genius capable of outsmarting two corporate titans, you?ve got more imagination than the people behind the idiotic thriller "Paranoia."
Hemsworth plays Adam Cassidy, a cubicle drone in a large tech firm struggling to pay insurance for his ailing father (Richard Dreyfuss). Caught running up the company credit card, Adam is pressured by his CEO, Nick Wyatt (Gary Oldman), to steal the next big product from a rival firm headed by Wyatt?s ex-partner and nemesis, Jock Goddard (Harrison Ford). Part of the spying involves seducing Goddard?s hottie marketing executive, Emma Jennings (Amber Heard).

?Paranoia?
Opens Friday, Aug. 16, at theaters everywhere; rated PG-13 for some sexuality, violence and language; 106 minutes.
Director Robert Luketic ("Legally Blonde," "21") employs the same ideas ? surveillance camera angles, menacing black SUVs, ubiquitous computer screens ? as a dozen other thrillers, each as generic as this movie?s title. Only twice, when Ford and Oldman snarl at each other from leather sofas, does "Paranoia" show signs of life.
